Tomorrow is the Day! Wednesday 03/26/25
It's been 9 days today that I've been in the hospital, but tomorrow I get to bust out!
A couple days ago I was able to get the drain out. She said you will feel a big pinch when I'm pulling it out. And, boy I did! I thought it was just the tube in there, but nope, at the end of the tube inside was a much wider flat piece with holes in it, that is where the fluid was able to go into the tube to come out. Definitely not the worst pain I've been in, but not comfortable. Today Dr. Gray came in between surgery cases to talk to me about how things are going and to take out all my stitches!
She discussed with me why she kept me longer than the planned Tuesday discharge. Because of having to go back on the steroids. Even though I'm on the lowest dose they could possibly put me on, apparently being on steroids can hinder the healing process. I guess this is still a much more extensive surgery than I keep thinking I had. So, she wanted to keep me until tomorrow to make sure the steroid dose is correct and, make sure nothing else went wrong. Today she took out the stitch that was from my chin to my chest (chin stitch or Gorilla Stitch). However, I now need to wear like a c-collar, except a soft one, so I'm still not able to tilt my head back. If I do this, it will completely ruin the surgery that was done. So I still have to be very cautious of this. And with me having to go back on the steroids and that can delay healing, she broke the news to me that I'm not able to go back to work or lift ANYTHING for at least 3 months. The collar feels a million times better than the stitch. And, I still have to constantly put Aquafor on the incision to help with healing. Tonight I was able to have help to wash my hair for the first time. I thought well, let's try it in the hospital so I know what the heck I'm doing when I go home. And I will undoubtedly need help at home for a while to wash it. Still can't get sick, as coughing or vomiting would also disrupt the healing process.
I have literally had THE BEST care here. I know I say it every time I'm here, but it's always true! This time I had my favorite Hannah who I have become friends with, and who I have at least once every admission. I've had new nurses, and even a student nurse who was so good!
I will probably continue writing on here and sharing it, because a lot of people ask, and well I forget s lot of stuff 😂 so if I document what happens, then I can go back and look if I'm wondering something 😂😂. I'm not sure how often I will have to go see Dr. Gray for follow ups, I suppose I will know more after she does the scope tomorrow. I'm quite excited to see what it looks like on the inside after the surgery! Even though the scope isn't the funnest until I get numb in there lol. I hope everyone has a fabulous night❤️
P S. If you are a prayer, if you could keep the Amy Anderson family in your thoughts and prayers for comfort it would truly mean a lot ❤️
