Resection Post Op Day #3 Thursday 03/20/25

Today has seemed like kind of a lazy day for me.  I feel like it was a day I needed to rest, and that's okay.   I was up in my chair most of the day, but dozed off and on.  I didy walks, and took one pretty hard nap in bed.

I feel like I've been through so many of the dilation/tube exchange surgeries that I should just be able to pop right up after this one as well.  I often need to remind myself that this was a WAY more extreme surgery lol.  And, well I guess Im not as young as I once was.  Today when I did one of my laps, I remembered showing my mom the first time I could walk around the nurses station after I got my trach put in.  I could walk all the way around the desk and I could breathe, it was like it was the best thing in the whole world.  Then, today I thought about that and I was like hey, I'm doing it now with NO trach and I can still breathe!  It was an amazing thing to remember.

I shared a picture with the length of trachea Dr. Gray took out and all I can see in her notes about surgery was she had to take all 5cms out because there was so much tissue.  I hope to goodness the whole "stenosed" area got out, because I don't want to go through any of this again!

I do know I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy that's for sure.  But, at least I can say that I have ALWAYS had nothing but the best care here at the U.  Day shift so far I've had the nicest nurse and she has had a nursing student with her.  Young guy who will do great!  I even said hey he can put my ted stockings on, you gotta learn how to do that!  It's pretty important!  He has been such a good sport, I mean if you've ever had to put those on people, you know.

They would like me to get more nutrients, heck just food in.  But ever since I started that dang Wegovy, food has just not been fun for me.  They got protein shakes approved for me now, of course they come warm.  But twice today I got the chicken, rather than the turkey that I had gotten yesterday.  It was really pretty good.  I could have cared less about the mashed taters or green beans, but I got some protein in, so hopefully that makes them happy.  I'm still on soft and bite sized special menu until discharge (Tuesday, hopefully!).

Well, I hope you all have a splendid evening and I'm so glad we didn't (up here) get all that dang snow!

❤️Ann

P.S. Taven, thank you for the stunning sunrise pic 😁
